I always like to be hit with unexpected shit, so I certainly wasn’t disappointed seeing a new project by veteran Boston producer Wigbert Caro pop up on my Soundcloud feed.
The king of juggling multiple projects both as a solo artist as well as in group settings, Caro’s latest effort is a joint one in tandem with drummer Josh Weinberg titled Tahabdra. Their debut track “Otoha” pulls no punches with its unconventional sound design, opting to balance live-recorded percussive hits with windy bass. The drums have lots of headroom to breathe and do most of the talking here, save scant vocal and synth stabs.
